Spring Cleaning Made Easy!

The first day of Spring is fastly approaching, which means warmer days, flowers blooming, and trees will begin to display bright spring colors. In order appreciate the beauty of spring through our windows, we should initiate a spring cleaning effort that starts with cleaning our windows.

• Wash Windows and Screens: Using warm water and a mild dishwashing liquid, scrub each screen with a brush and rinse thoroughly.
  
  
• Clean Windows and Window Treatments: Many draperies and curtains are machine washable; check the tags or labels. Dry-clean fabric shades. Wipe wooden blinds with a damp cloth; warm water mixed with a mild dishwashing liquid is safe for metal and vinyl blinds.
  
  
• Floors: Vinyl floors that have lost their shine can be brightened up with a little Mop and Glo, Minwax, or other liquid wax products that can be purchased at any grocery or hardware store.
  
  
• Dusting Your Home Thoroughly: This includes hard-to-reach places like ceiling fans and window casings. Use your broom to remove dust build-up on the air conditioning return vent (where the filter is). Don't forget to dust all furniture items such as dressers, night tables, bookshelves, coffee and end tables.
  
  
• Wipe Down All Walls: Wipe walls with warm, soapy water with a mild dishwashing liquid.
  
  
• Ensure Safety: All units have mounted smoke detectors. No matter what, you should never (never) detach or remove them. It's a good idea to purchase a small household fire extinguisher.
  
  
• Cleaning Appliances: Remove the burner stands from the stove top. Use an oven cleaner or baking soda to clean the stove top, under the raised stove top, and inside the oven. Remove the oven racks and scrub them with the oven cleaner or baking soda outside or in the kitchen sink.
