What You Need to Know BEFORE Applying

Public Housing Applications will be taken at Jefferson County Housing Authority (Bessemer Office) at 4501 Little Drive, Bessemer, AL 35022.

Application Opens: February 17, 2026, at 9:00 AM
Application Close: March 4, 2026, at 4:00 PM

Applications can be picked up at the Bessemer Office on Tuesday, February 17th - Wednesday, March 4th, between 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM (please note that our office is closed on Fridays), you may print off an application via our website's APPLY NOW page, or one can be emailed to you.

  • Terrance Manor I (2 & 3 Bedroom only)
  • Terrace Manor II (2 & 3 Bedroom only)
  • Oak Ridge in Brighton (2 & 3 Bedroom only)

You can drop off your application at the Bessemer Office with ALL the requested documents or email your application and documents to rgamble@jcha.com.

Required Documents include:

  • State Driver's License, State ID or Military ID (applications will not be accepted without proper ID)
  • Social Security Cards for each household member

Applicants already on the waiting lists for other housing programs must apply separately for this program and such applicants will not lose their place on other waiting lists when they apply for public housing.

Directions to Bessemer Office:
Take I-20/59 to exit 110 (Alabama Adventure Parkway) turn onto the Parkway going toward Watermark Outlet get in left lane then turn on Prince Street (you will see a sign that says Designer Outlets) turn left. Go to the top of the hill to the "STOP" sign and turn right onto Little Drive. The leasing office will be on the right.
